Gov. Snyder against Religious Freedom Act
Posted April 9, 2015
Gov. Rick Snyder says he would veto a proposed Religious Freedom Restoration Act unless it included "anti-discrimination protection to gays."
Issue:
Gov. Snyder made this statement in the midst of the uproar in Indiana and Arkansas over their religious freedom bills. Michigan's religious liberty bill won approval in the House in December, but died in the Senate. It was reintroduced in January and is pending in the Senate Judiciary Committee. Various forms of religious freedom laws, currently in 20 states, basically allow individuals to deny goods or services if it would cause them to violate their religious beliefs.
Comments / Action:
Continue to pray for Gov. Snyder, as well as all Michigan legislatures. Let them know your views on religious freedom.
