Gender / Gay Issues

We stand on the biblical principles America was founded on which classifies homosexual behavior, cross dressing and so on as sinful. Every person is created male or female and their birth gender remains their gender for life regardless of any attempts to deny or change it. Because of this, any sexual behavior or the concept of gender choice should not in any way be allowed in public schools or facilities the public is exposed to.

Michigan Board of Education Supports Gender Confusion
January 25, 2016

Michigan Board of Education President John Austin has "close personal ties to the GLBTQQI community and is determined to see that all students receive equitable access to their education, free from harassment or other forms of discrimination." according to Timothy Larrabee, associate professor and director of the SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Initiative of Oakland University) Initiative Task force. (emphasis added). Do you really think all students--including Christians--will be free from discrimination if they choose not to associate with those who play around with gender? Those in our society who have chosen to allow people to "choose" their sex are promoting this behavior as an inherent right, which it is not. It is behavior. It is dress-up. It is role-play. If they will allow, and even encourage, this behavior, then they must allow for those who choose not to accept it to be free from discrimination as well, otherwise we fall into an even deeper depravity. God help us. The deception of the people on this topic is mind-boggling. I can't even begin to understand the "logic" behind this issue.

So Mr. Austin supports gender confusion in Michigan schools. I have already heard stories of this being promoted in kindergarten, have you yet?

Encourage your Michigan congressmen to act on 2015 HR2802 the First Amendment Defense Act a bill that, if made law, will protect individuals and organizations from governmental penalties because of their religious convictions regarding same sex marriage. It was introduced in June of 2015 and has had no action since then.

Gay Efforts to Amend the Michigan Constitution

January 11, 2016

An effort is under way to amend Michigan's Constitution to expand the discrimination protection to include gender identity and sexual orientation. Of course if this goes through, it could very likely mean discrimination against those who don't want to hire sexually confused people, or allow a man to use a woman's restroom etc. According to the Michigan Constitution, there is not supposed to be discrimination against a person for religious reasons, however the trend across the country has been if a case comes down to religious rights vs. gay rights, the gay wins. Information here.

Update January 25, 2016
Oakland County Executive Brooks Patterson supports this amendment too. Information here.

We need to ask our legislatures who is going to be given priority if a person's religious rights conflict with a another persons "gay" rights if this passes! How will they determine this? Will churches and business owners be forced to hire homosexuals? Will Pastors be forced to perform gay weddings?

Update January 29, 2016

Thank God, the group backing this effort to amend the state constitution has suspended its effort to get it on the ballot for this fall. Apparently there were disagreements withing the LGBT community about this. Read the article here.

The Secretary of State says the information listed in a driver's license or ID card must match the birth certificate. The ACLU is trying to get their policy to be declared unconstitutional.

Oakland County Commissioner / Marion High School
Posted April 9, 2015

Oakland County Commissioner Dave Woodward proposed an amendment that would deny Marian High School's right to religious practice.

Issue:
The County Commissioners were voting on an issue that would allow Marian High School to reissue county bonds to lower interest payments. Commissioner Woodward proposed an amendment to say that they would only allow it if the school adopted an anti-discrimination policy that included sexual orientation. Caucus Chair Shelley Taub argued that the issue of the bonds had nothing to do with a discrimination policy, and the religious school should not be denied the right to practice. Woodward's amendment failed and the bond issuance passed.

Woodward's issue with Marian High School is in regards to their firing of a pregnant lesbian teacher in 2014. Read the article here.

Question:
If Commissioner Woodward feels so strongly that discrimination is wrong, then why was he trying to discriminate against Marian High School for adhering to their religious beliefs?

Harris Funeral Home
Posted May 4, 2015

R.G. & G.R Harris Funeral Home in Garden City lost a dismissal request from U.S. District Judge Sean Cox. The funeral home fired a person in 2013 who told them he was transitioning to a female and would be dressing as a woman. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued the funeral home last year. The funeral home's attorney said, "If the EEOC's position prevails, neither this funeral home nor any business will be able to any longer control how its employees and agents appear to the public." The EEOC also sued a Florida eye clinic which resulted in a $150,000 settlement. These are the first EEOC lawsuits filed to protect transgender people in the workplace.
